B117, the new strain of the Covid has been recorded in Nigeria, the Presidential Task Force on COVID19 detailed.
During a press instruction on Monday, January 25, the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force gave this update.
He uncovered that four people have been determined to have the B117 strain which was first detailed in the United Kingdom and South Africa. As per him, three of these four people are visitors from Nigeria yet the last one is an inhabitant.
He said;
“Over the last few weeks, the PTF has been closely following the rising number of infections reported daily in Nigeria and other jurisdictions. Similarly, our scientists have been sequencing the variants of the virus.
There have been reports of cases with the B117 variant strain, first reported in the UK, found in Nigeria. Three of these were travelers out of Nigeria and one a resident”
